Why did John McCain propose a $300 billion dollar socialist mortgage bailout?

I don’t know. What is a fact is that the GOP claims to want capitalism, free enterprise, and smaller government. They have in fact grown the government & bailed out wall street on there watch. This at the expense of the tax payers while the rich have gotten richer faster than any time in history.What we seem to have now is a socialist program aimed at helping the rich.
